Sponsorship Opportunities for the 2012
Healdsburg Water Carnival
Saturday, July 14th
The Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation proudly presents the re-creation of the historic Healdsburg Water Carnival at Veterans Memorial Beach in Healdsburg. The day begins at 11 a.m. as the iconic White Swan float comes down the Russian River and passes under Memorial Bridge followed by 30 more floats. The first part of the day will include live music, food vendors, old –time activities such as the ‘Whiskeroo’ and Period Bathing Suit Contest. There will be children’s activities, water games and information and sales booths from the Carnival Sponsors. Join us at 5 p.m. for dinner, drinks and the fearless group of musical innovators known as Jazz Mafia. The 2011 Water Carnival attracted over 6,000 spectators and participants. All proceeds will benefit the installation of Veterans Memorial Beach Dam which has served as the community “swimming pool” on the Russian River for over 100 years in Healdsburg.
Non-profit float-only sponsorship is just $500.

Float Specifications
The Healdsburg Water Carnival is a journey through over a century of Healdsburg history. The goal of your float should be to embody the rich history, community and passion of the Healdsburg Water Carnival from 1902 through today hint: (look under the history tab on the website to see the past of the Healdsburg Water Carnival. In building your float there are some things you should remember.
The Swan is taken. (we have a series of engineers and very brilliant people creating a replica – sorry)
We have some additional guidelines for the enjoyment of everyone
- Your assembled float must be able to be lifted by 6 strong volunteers.
- No alcohol (This is a family event)
- While there is no guideline on what your float can be made of, or powered by, we STRONGLY recommend you do the right thing (recycled materials and green power are smiled upon)
- Your float should be able to be put together in 4 hours if not fully assembled
- The dimensions of the float cannot exceed 16ft by 8 ft (we have a narrow channel and ability to tow if necessary)
- You need to have a fire extinguisher on board if your craft is flammable fuel powered
- Anyone under 16 must wear a lifejacket and one must be available for everyone on your float (we strongly recommend that everyone wear a lifejacket)
- Due to gale force winds last year, your float MUST have at least one electric motor.
While we value competition, the point of the float parade is to have FUN! The more the community of Healdsburg likes your float, the better. That being said, there is only 1 award. This is the Peoples Choice award for the float that best exemplifies the 2012 Healdsburg Water Carnival. What does that mean? Especially after reading above where your float is supposed to embody the past….
Float platforms can be provided. They are 8×12 and can hold a maximum of 2000 lbs. Let us know if you need a base and we can have one ready for you to decorate before the parade. Here is what the base will look like.
